Bannatyne unveils plans for 2003
Bannatyne Fitness has announced its next three £5m clubs will open in Wakefield, West Yorkshire; Chester-le-Street, County Durham and Eastbourne, Sussex this year.
The Chester-le-Street club is to be built on the site of Durham County Cricket Club's Riverside cricket ground and has been designed to match the Riverside's pavilion.
The locations of three further clubs, to open in January 2004, will be announced later in the year and two Bannatyne's Just Fitness clubs - in Mansfield and Colchester - will be converted to the Bannatyne's Health Clubs brand in 2003. Both will see deck level swimming pools, steamrooms and spa baths added.
Chair, Duncan Bannatyne, said: 'Bannatyne Fitness has a very ambitious outlook, which will see us expand to 30 clubs by the end of 2003 and 40 by the end of 2004. We are constantly looking for new sites across the UK.'
