Baseball to take over Oval?

According to The Times, negotiations to bring American baseball to the Oval cricket ground in London are at an advanged level between Major League Baseball (MLB) and Surrey County Cricket Club.

A 10-day period is understood to have been set aside in early April 2007 for an exhibition game and two further games which will count in the official standings.

The move would be part of MLB’s strategy to introduce the game to a global audience, which previously saw two games played in Tokyo in 2004.
