Blue Zones – an organisation dedicated to helping people live better and longer lives through researching the world’s longest-lived cultures – has announced a partnership with spa and skincare brand Immunocologie.

Discovered by National Geographic fellow and explorer Dan Buettner, Blue Zones are the five places in the world where people live the longest, healthiest lives; Sardinia, Italy; Okinawa, Japan; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; and Loma Linda, California.

The Blue Zones institution's new partnership has seen three of Immunocologie’s signature products – Vital Iconic Mist, Vital Clay Mask and a self-heating Lava Mask – launch on its online store which already offers a selection of longevity foods and beverages, apparel and longevity-focused publications.

Immunocologie’s skin science

Headquartered in New York City, Immunocologie creates skincare to help ground its users and support the skin’s natural immune system by balancing its microbiome.

Its gentle plant-based products are designed for all skin types including people with highly sensitised skin – such as those with lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes, asthma or people who have undergone chemotherapy and/or radiation for cancer treatment.

“We’re delighted to be leveraging our knowledge of skin science to partner with Blue Zones in its important mission,” said Immunocologie founder and CEO Karen Ballou.

“As a cancer survivor, I became increasingly passionate about skin immunity and started the brand 14 years ago to promote skin health. To do so, I made sure every ingredient in our formulas does something vital to support skin – and nothing to harm it.

“We use natural, mineral and plant-based ingredients that are cold-pressed to maintain their nutritional integrity. Our natural formulations mean that Immunocologie products are actually supercharged, superfoods for the skin and body.”

Ben Leedle, CEO of Blue Zones, added: “Our partnership with Immunocologie provides an evidence-informed way to naturally boost wellbeing.

“Blue Zones principles include an array of lifestyle and cultural effects that collectively contribute to a better, longer life. The unique approach involves providing support so people can achieve holistic health and wellbeing by changing or creating surroundings designed to nudge us toward healthier decisions every day.

"It’s easy to forget that our skin is the largest and one of the most powerful and critical organs of our bodies.”

About Blue ZonesUsing original research, Blue Zones works with cities and counties to make healthy choices easier through permanent and semi-permanent changes to our human-made surroundings.

Participating communities have experienced double-digit drops in obesity and tobacco use and have saved millions of dollars in healthcare costs.

Work has already begun on realising the first Blue Zones Center in Miami, Florida.

The upcoming 13-storey facility will combine medical care, predictive diagnostics and preventive medicine to optimise disease management outcomes and inspire advanced patient wellbeing and longevity.
