Boathouse project planned for Norwich
A new £1m boathouse project is being planned for Trowse, near Norwich.
Whitlingham Boat Houses has been established to operate a new rowing and canoeing facility for Norwich and Norfolk, and is currently trying to raise the funds for the scheme.
Its partners in the project include Norwich Rowing Club, Norwich Canoe Club, University of East Anglia Boat Club, Norwich School Boat Club and Norwich High School Rowing Club.
The 500sq m facility in Whitlingham Country Park would house some 200 boats and planning approval was awarded by the Broads Authority in February 2009.
If the funds are raised, it is expected that work would be completed by the end of the year.
