Boosey and Hawkes collection for Horniman
The Horniman Museum has acquired the Boosey and Hawkes Music Collection of historic woodwind instruments and related archival material for £230,000.
The London museum, which already holds the Adam Carse Collection of woodwind and brass instruments, purchased the collection following a grant of £221,500 from the Heritage Lottery Fund and £10,800 from the National Art Collection Fund.
The collection of 300 instruments includes the double slide contrabass trombone built for the London premiere of Wagner’s Ring des Nibelungen, a crystal glass flute and silver trumpets. Details: www.horniman.ac.uk
