Boost for hospitality training in Singapore
A new scholarship has been launched to benefit tourism and hospitality students in Singapore.
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) is set to invest S$2m (US$1.2m, £700,000, n1m) in a fund which will be available to students pursuing the Master of Management in Hospitality at the Cornell-Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management (CNI).
The STB Scholarship for CNI will benefit between four and eight students each year, for five years, beginning in 2006.
The fund can also be boosted by contributions from corporate or individual donors in order to assist more scholars.
Deputy chair and chief executive of STB, Lim Neo Chian, said: “For the tourism industry to maximise every opportunity, it is critical that the government and the private sectors collaborate to nurture a skilled and competent workforce.” Details: www.cni.ntu.edu.sg
