Boston MFA to expand
The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, US, has embarked on a US$500m (£256m, 379m euro) expansion and revamp scheme.
A new wing will be built to house the existing Art of the Americas exhibition; a new space will be created for contemporary and modern art; and the Art of Europe and Art of the Ancient World galleries will be revamped.
In addition, the existing learning facilities will be redesigned and expanded, the main entrances will be improved and a revamped Sharf Visitor Center will be relocated next door to the new Art of the Americas wing.
The project – designed by Foster and Partners of London – will expand the museum’s space by 28 per cent (151,000sq ft, 14,000sq m) and more than US$329m (£168m, 249m euro) has been generated via a campaign toward the scheme. Details: www.mfa.org
