Bournemouth Best Western to expand
Best Western’s Connaught Hotel in Bournemouth is to receive a 15-room expansion.
Planning permission has been granted to demolish the Sun Court Hotel – now known as the Connaught Lodge – and build a new mixed-use building with 14 flats and 15 new one-bedroom suites.
The project is expected to cost around £2.5m and advisers include architects William Lester and planning consultants Planning Solutions.
The owner of the site, David Miller, said: “The existing Connaught Lodge provides a service but not long term holiday accommodation. I’m keen to retain a tourism use but make more rationalised and efficient use of the site while funding the enhancements proposed by the new building. The proposed design solution will meet the aims of both residents and visitors.”
The entire project is expected to take between 12 and 18 months.
