Bournemouth's Winter Gardens set for overhaul
Bournemouth's Winter Gardens site is set for a major revamp after the local authority agreed to offload the site to A P Bond Children's Settlement.
The private pension fund is proposing a 66,000sq m (710,418sq ft) complex for the site, which would include a cinema, shops, parking and lansdcaped areas. Meanwhile, Bournemouth Borough Council (BBC) has welcomed a decision by the Trevor Osborne Property Group to remove a casino from a proposed redevelopment of Pavilion Gardens.
BBC's cabinet also recommended that the council agrees to a deal with receiver Alsop over the remaining lease for the IMAX complex, which is being earmarked for a new visitor destination. The site-specific decisions were made as the cabinet backed a Draft Town Centre Area Action Plan for the resort, which is now poised to go out to public consultation.
