Brandon Leisure Centre will be throwing open its doors on the weekend of 26 to 28 October to let local people see exactly what there is on offer.

The weekend is the start of the centre's first birthday celebrations which has seen its membership double since the opening of its state-of-the-art fitness facility. Together with its sports facilities, the centre now offers an extensive group exercise programme, activities for children and families, community use, social events and hire for special functions such as parties and weddings. Over the weekend, people will be able to look round the facilities, try out free taster sessions and take advantage of special offers and promotions. A special guest is also expected on Saturday to help with celebrations.

The weekend begins with a Friday night film, Pirates in an adventure with Scientists, with tickets for just £1 for under 16s.

On Saturday the volume will be turned up for free taster sessions in spinning, boxercise, ViPR whole-body training, combat, and body pump. There will also be free sessions in disability sports, street sports, roller skating and dance mats as well as a Tumblers activity party.

On Sunday there will be a mini wedding fayre, 'come and try' sports sessions with local clubs and an outdoor boxercise class. Both Saturday and Sunday will offer free strength workshops and free introductory sessions in the fitness studio with free Aspiration Maps.

Anyone who wants to join the leisure centre will enjoy a special 20% discount on the first 3 direct debit payments or will get 13 months for the price of 10 on annual memberships. There will also be an amazing free room hire offer on the first 10 functions booked during the weekend and a £25 discount off all Activity Parties booked during this time. Montage Café Bar will also have special meal deals and taster plates.

Tony Bass, Anglia Community Leisure's Chief Executive says: "Health and fitness is our business but the centre offers so much more. As well as our busy exercise, sports and activity programmes we also want the centre to be at the heart of the Brandon community. With our Montage Café and bar it's a great place to meet, to host local groups and organizations as well as to cater for your social occasions and events. If you have never been in just come down and take a look, we will be pleased to welcome you."
