Brisbane Ekka only days away
The Brisbane Ekka is set to open at the RNA Showgrounds on 6 August, and boasts a number of new attractions for this year.
For the first time at Ekka 2009, The Sunday Mail Fashion Stage will inform visitors about current trends and host fashion workshops, while the Royal Queensland Deli will have award-winning produce available for purchase.
Koronosaurus Korner in Ekka's National Science Week Pavilion will display dinosaur fossils from a time when Queensland was submerged under a vast inland sea, while in Sunny Queen Little Miracles Newborn Corner, guests can see any of 100 pregnant ewes giving birth in a purpose-built birthing unit.
The SignatureBrisbane Interactive Backyards exhibit will provide inspiration for guests as well as offering free cooking demonstrations using homegrown produce, honey tastings and the opportunity to shoot a hoop at the basketball court.
The event will also see the Ten Tenors, former students of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music who have performed at London's Royal Albert Hall, the Sydney Opera House, The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and Tchaikovsky Hall Moscow over the past decade, take to the Nova Park Stage for the Sunday Sunset Concert on 9 August.
