British glamour gowns projected at the Victoria and Albert
Norway's p*ojectiondesign supplied four pairs of projectors to a special exhibition at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), UK.
The ‘Ballgowns: British Glamour Since 1950’ exhibition at the V&A features more than sixty gowns made for private parties, royal balls and state occasions.
The gowns are showcased in the newly renovated Fashion Galleries, supported by giant projected images to celebrate over sixty years of a strong British design tradition.
The design for the exhibition’s AV systems was undertaken by Sysco, with on-site integration and implementation by Electrosonic. The exhibition, on two floors, was designed by Emily Pugh.
The lower level displays gowns from 1950 to the early 2000s, including Princess Diana’s 1989 ‘Elvis Dress’ by Catherine Walker and a Norman Hartnell gown designed for Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
The upper level displays gowns by contemporary UK-based designers including Roland Mouret, Giles, Erdem, Roksanda Illincic, Mary Katrantzou and Gareth Pugh.
The p*ojectiondesign F32 DLP projectors were chosen for their compact size, high brightness, wide-angle lenses and precision optics.
The projectors sent images of the gowns across four curved, alcoved walls as a stylish backdrop to the displays.
