The Caribbean island of St Vincent will receive its first five-star hotel next year when Harlequin Hotels & Resorts launches the Buccament Bay Beach Resort.

Located on the south west coast of the island, the resort will offer accommodation in 369 air-conditioned suites, designed by architects TVS, ranging from Junior Suites (63.9 sq m in size) to the opulent Waters Edge Penthouse Suites (358sq m).

Facilities will include seven different restaurants, including the 48-cover The Pearl Galleon Ship, located on a 38m-long converted vessel.

Leisure and sport facilities at the resort include the Pat Cash Tennis Academy, Liverpool FC Soccer School, The Island Sanctuary Spa, Harlequin Performing Arts Academy and a diving and watersports centre.

Former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash will personally oversee the standard of teaching at the tennis academy, while the facilities at the Liverpool football school will target professional teams for their pre-season tours as well as offer all-year round training for children aged five and above.

There will also be 24-berth marina for cruising yachts, including mega-yacht berths that can accommodate yachts up to 250ft, and offshore anchoring mooring buoys for larger yachts. The sailing facility will be managed by an experienced staff available 24 hours a day.

The resort's Sanctuary Spa will offer a range of restorative treatments and therapies designed to stimulate, purify, soothe and de-toxify.

Treatments will include hot stone therapies, hydrotherapy, Shiatsu, Aromatherapy, holistic body and Thai massages as well as a wide range of traditional beauty treatments.

There will also be aroma, sauna and steamrooms as well as water therapy pools. Yoga, Pilates, Reiki and meditation will also be offered, reflecting the spa's holistic focus. Guests will be able to experience outdoor treatment suites, bordered by herb gardens and shaded by tropical vegetation.

The resort will be managed on behalf of Harlequin by Oasis Hotels & Resorts.

Buccament Bay will be the first of six resorts Harlequin is planning to launch in the Caribbean. Further sites will open in Barbados, St Lucia, Dominican Republic, Grenada and Brazil.
