Burton Albion officially opens Pirelli Stadium
Burton Albion will officially open the Pirelli Stadium with a match against a Manchester Utd XI this evening (14 November).
The Nationwide Conference side's new 6,000-capacity stadium will be officially opened by Manchester Utd manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.
The new venue cost in the region of £6.9m, funded primarily through the sale of the club's former Eton Park ground to housing developers, with a £400,000 grant coming from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund.
The stadium will also provide a base for two full-time development squads for 16 to 18-year olds as part of a programme with Burton College.
A learning activity centre and IT suite, where school children are provided with free IT teaching is also part of the facility.
