CABE Space appoints new director
The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) has appointed Sarah Gaventa as new director of CABE Space.
Gaventa, who formerly worked for creative consultancy firm Scarlet Projects – which designed the V&A Museum’s annual fete and refurbished St Luke’s Gardens in London – will oversee CABE Space’s work to encourage excellence in the planning, design, management and maintenance of parks, streets and public spaces in England.
She has also recently written a book, New Public Spaces, which was sponsored by CABE Space.
CABE has also appointed Jonathan Davis as director of knowledge and skills. Davis will lead the organisation’s development of new thinking on sustainable and inclusive design.
Richard Simmons, chief executive, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to attract people of Jonathan and Sarah’s calibre. They will ensure that CABE continues to take a fresh and challenging approach to improving architecture and public space.”
