Community Leisure Services (CLS) has successfully gained Quest accreditation for two of its sports centres this summer, The White Horse Leisure & Tennis Centre in Abingdon, Oxfordshire and Yarborough Leisure Centre in Lincoln.

The White Horse centre – which opened in 2002 and is operated on behalf of Vale of White Horse District Council – also won the Best Gym/Leisure Centre award in local radio station, FoxFM’s Best of Oxfordshire awards in both 2004 and 2005.

CLS chief executive Clare Kennedy said: “Following the back to back awards from the local community, this reward and recognition for the work, time and effort contributed by all our colleagues at Abingdon endorses the value we place on getting the right people doing the right things.

“It also further enhances and highlights the partnership philosophy we share with our client as we work together to reduce barriers to participation for the local community.”

At Yarborough, more than £2m has been invested in new facilities since CLS took over the management two years ago on behalf of the City of Lincoln Council.

The upgrades have included new wet and dry changing facilities, a new fitness suite and enlarged reception and public areas.

The centre is also currently installing an artificial turf pitch supplied by Team Sport Australia. Details: www.communityleisure.co.uk
