CLS makes fitness fun for kids
Sports trust Community Leisure Services has installed dance mats and a Sportwall at White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre in Abingdon to encourage children to exercise.
The Sportwall allows children to compete against each other and against the clock in speed and reaction time events, whilst the dance mats have choreographed routines where you use your rhythm and coordination to tap out a dance routine on the mats' pressure points. The routine to follow is projected onto a giant screen to track performance and compete against others.
The centre ran a week of free introductions from 23 June ahead of introducing sessions on a pay as you go basis from 7 July.
A 'Dance Mat Challenge' has also been organised for 13 July in aid of the Marie Curie charity. The challenge will be to keep all of the Dance Mats continually 'dancing' for a six-hour period during the day.
