Cables Wake Park opens in Penrith, NSW
The new Cables Wake Park has opened for waterskiing at Penrith Panthers in western Sydney, Australia.
The facility, which is leased by Penrith Panthers and operated by Cable Ski Cairns, reopens a water park which was closed to the public more than a decade ago.
"Panthers have spent more than AUD$30m on renovations, a huge investment in the local community will be greatly appreciated by those who have missed the original water park since it closed," said New South Wales' Sport and Recreation Minister, Kevin Greene, at the official opening.
The park is now set to host the first world tour event of the Wake Park World Series in March.
"A World Wakeboard Association event, the Wake Park World Series is staged at the best wake parks across the globe," said Greene.
"Water sports have always been popular in Australian culture, so it's great to see Penrith hosting such a high profile international event."
