Caerphilly residents to benefit from investment in leisure facilities
Residents of Risca in Caerphilly, Wales are set to benefit from a £200,000 investment in leisure facilities, as works to improve Risca Leisure Centre are due to be completed by the end of July.
A new gym has been developed at Risca Leisure Centre with more than 50 stations, including cardiovascular, resistance, and free weights equipment.
In addition to the gym, a new health suite, viewing area and outdoor, floodlit, five-a-side pitch will also be available for residents and visitors to use, as well as new office space for staff.
The old gym has been converted into a health suite and features a sauna and steam room, in addition to a multi purpose area which will be used as a dance studio and meeting room.
The upgrade was funded by Caerphilly County Borough Council as it aims to improve the health and wellbeing of communities across the county borough.
Cllr Dave Poole, cabinet member for community and leisure services, said: “Despite budget constraints, the council recognises the importance of investing in sport and leisure for the benefit of all residents who live in the county borough.
This development at Risca Leisure Centre is yet another significant step in encouraging our residents to live active and healthy lives.”
The new features join the facilities already available at the leisure centre which include squash courts, a multi-purpose sports hall, a fully sprung wooden dance studio, swimming pool, a full sized floodlit artificial turf pitch and a theatre/performing arts room.
