Caines and Brownsword open second ABode hotel
Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines and hotelier Andrew Brownsword – owner of The Bath Priory, Gidleigh Park and Sydney House in Chelsea – launched the second property in their ABode boutique hotel collection in Glasgow on 9 December 2005.
The 60-room ABode Glasgow (The Arthouse) features an MC fine dining restaurant, an MC Café Bar and an MC Vibe Bar.
ABode Exeter (The Royal Clarence) opened in September 2005, and features 53 bedrooms, a Michael Caines Restaurant, a fitness spa, a Champagne and Cocktail Bar, a Café Bar and a Michael Caines Tavern.
ABode Canterbury (The County Hotel) is due to launch in spring 2006 and Gidleigh Park in Devon is set to reopen as the fourth ABode hotel in June 2006, following extensive refurbishment. It will feature 18 bedrooms, a 54-cover restaurant and a new wine cellar with tasting room.
Brownswood and Caines are planning to target major cities and towns across the UK with their food and beverage-led hotels and aim to open 15 ABode hotels within the next five years.
Room rates start from £125, and the bedrooms are divided into four categories: Comfortable, Desirable, Enviable and Fabulous. Details: www.abodehotels.co.uk
