Carillion JV nets £395m Qatar contract
A joint venture led by UK-based developer Carillion has announced it has secured a £395m (EUR461m, US$617m) contract for a mixed-use development in Doha, Qatar.
The 80:20 joint venture also comprises Qatar Building Company and will work on a "major phase" of the Msheireb Downtown Doha project being led by Msheireb Properties.
It is expected the development will incorporate cultural and leisure facilities, alongside retail; commercial; residential; and community elements covering a 31-hectare (77-acre) site.
Carillion group chief executive John McDonough said: "We are delighted to have been selected to deliver this prestigious project.
"We look forward to working with Msheireb Properties to deliver a visionary solution that will meet the high standards of sustainability that have been set for this transformational development."
