Carlisle has it covered at Bitts Park
Carlisle City Council has completed a £280,000 project to install an air dome over two of four new hard tennis courts at Bitts Park to allow play to continue all year round.
The new courts replaced existing, flood-damaged grass courts.
Carlisle Cllr Ray Knapton, Portfolio holder for Community Engagement said: “The former grass tennis courts had limited use over the winter months, due to adverse weather.
“The new courts and air dome enhance the tennis provision and provide an opportunity for coaching and development of young people.”
The project was funded by Carlisle City Council and a £125,000 grant from the Lawn Tennis Association. The facility is managed by sports and leisure trust Carlisle Leisure.
