Carrick Leisure takes over Cornwall facilities
Carrick Leisure has completed the formal transfer of Cornwall Council's leisure services, with facilities across the county now operated by the charitable trust.
The local authority decided to transfer the operation of community facilities to the trust in April to protect them from government cuts and benefit from VAT savings.
Carrick Leisure already operated council-owned facilities in Truro and Falmouth before it was appointed at the preferred operator to run all leisure services in October.
Cornwall Council portfolio holder for culture and leisure Joan Symons said: "This will help develop these facilities and potentially avoid closures."
