Cash boost for Aberdeen Maritime Museum
Aberdeen City Council (ACC) has announced that Maersk Oil North Sea UK has provided £90,000 towards the renovation of the Education Suite at Aberdeen Maritime Museum.
The independent oil operator's contribution will help preserve north east Scotland's oil and gas heritage and enable visitors to learn more about the industry. Work on the Education Suite will complement the renovation of other areas of the museum, with the Energy Exploration Galleries set to benefit from a makeover.
ACC education, culture and sport committee convenor Callum McCaig said: "Thanks to Maersk Oil, the education suite will be second to none and will undoubtedly attract many more visitors to the museum." Maersk Oil managing director Martin Rune Pedersen added: "It is important for us to be able to put something back into the community that has served us so well."
