Casino group announces profit growth
Las Vegas-based casino chain, Ameristar, has announced pre-tax profits of $56.9m (£31.3m) for the second quarter of 2004 – up 3.2 per cent from the same period in 2003.
Reporting its figures for the three-month period ending 30 June, the company announced that only its Jackpot Properties arm had seen a decline in pre-tax profit.
Ameristar, which operates six casinos in the US, said that its $115m acquisition of the Mountain High Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado, was on schedule and that it will begin operating as an Ameristar property by December 2004.
Ameristar has also received approval for a $26m expansion of its Council Bluffs casino in Iowa. The development will increase the property’s gaming space by 9,800sq ft. Details: www.ameristar.com
