Cassani assembling Olympic team
Barbara Cassani, chair of London 2012 – the bid company that will spearhead the attempt to bring the Olympics to London – has started to appoint key members of her team.
Cassani last week announced the board of the company, which includes a mix of experts in key areas of the bid, such as sports planning, event management and regional and local government administration.
Board members include individuals such as; HRH The Princess Royal; Sport England chair, Patrick Carter; BOA chair and CEO, Craig Reedie and Simon Clegg; Sir Howard Bernstein and Charles Allen, of Manchester 2002; as well as Olympians Dalton Grant, Sir Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent.
Cassani's executive bid team is also taking shape, with Alan Pascoe and Sebastian Coe on board as vice chairs and experienced Olympic journalist, Steve Parry as media director. Michael Power has also joined as chief operating officer.
Cassani is expected to add a chief executive and a communications director to complete the team.
