Cats to get new home
The Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, US, is set to close its Asian Cat Exhibit for a redevelopment project.
The 15-year-old exhibit will receive a complete refurbishment and will be closed to the public during the construction work.
According to Great Plains Zoo’s chief executive Elizabeth Whealy, the new habitat will be completed by November and the tigers and leopards currently habiting the enclosure will be rehoused within the zoo but will not be on exhibit during the revamp.
The 45-acre Great Plains Zoo also operates the adjacent Delbridge Museum of Natural History and features over 500 animals from around the world.
The Delbridge Museum of Natural History features a collection of mounted animals from five continents displayed in simulated natural environments.
