Integrative health and wellness resort operator Chiva-Som based in Hua Hin, Thailand, has announced the appointment of Chanyapak Suwankantha as wellness director.

In her new role, Suwankantha will oversee all aspects of the guest wellness experience, helming the resort’s team of medical and wellness specialists.

Suwankantha is a graduate of Chiang Mai University’s Faculty of Nursing, known as a leading institute for both medical practice and research.

Deciding early on to pursue a career in wellness, she furthered her education at the Swiss Hotel Management School, specialising in Resort and Spa Operations and Management.

Suwankantha began her career in the spa industry at Chiva-Som’s Thai flagship in 2014, when she was appointed as manager of the resort's aesthetic clinic, Niranlada Medi-Spa.

In 2020, she was promoted to resort operations manager, overseeing the operation of resort’s health and wellness facilities and its team of staff.

As the new wellness director, Suwankantha will be responsible for guiding Chiva-Som’s wellness philosophy, as well as developing new programmes and treatments that respond to guests’ changing needs and goals.

“I look forward to working with my fellow directors to innovate and expand our holistic approach, and to maintain our position as the world’s leading wellness destination,” she said.

About Chiva-Som

Launched in 1995, Chiva-Som is committed to an innovative, holistic approach which balances mind, body and spirit. Its flagship resort was recently joined by a new outpost in the North of Qatar – named Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som.

The resort marks the first instance when Chiva-Som has embarked on a new management and operating contract since opening its flagship in Thailand.

Zulal is claimed to be the world’s first resort to showcase Traditional Arabic and Islamic Medicine (TAIM) – click here to check out Spa Business’ in-depth feature about the property.
