Chatsworth House and Warwich Castle win tv poll
Chatsworth House and Warwick Castle were voted Best Stately Home and Britain’s Best Castle in a joint Channel 5/Radio Times poll as part of the Britain’s Finest tv season.
Over 22,000 votes were cast to decide Britain’s finest stately home, garden, castle and ancient monument from a choice of 12 in each individual category.
Chatsworth House hit a double whammy, voted Best Stately Home while also coming third in the Best Garden category.
Owner of Chatsworth House, the Duke of Devonshire, said: “For all of us at Chatsworth, nothing is more important than the people who visit. It is for this reason that it is immensely gratifying to be voted as Britain’s Finest and my family and I look forward to welcoming many more visitors to share the beauty and history of our home.” Details: www.visitheartofengland.com
