Chilling at Our Dynamic Earth
This Easter will see the unveiling of the latest exciting development at Our Dynamic Earth with the opening of the newly redeveloped Polar Gallery.
Coinciding with International Polar Year, the new gallery will illustrate the role the Poles play as laboratories of climate change.
Through state-of-the-art audio visual techniques, visitors will gain a tangible sense of the Polar extremes, and how the climates and habitats present distinct challenges for wildlife and local flora.
A simulated ice core will show how we can quite literally travel back in time to track the fluctuations in the earth's temperature over millennia, giving a clear baromoter of the level of global warming the planet is experiencing.
One of Our Dynamic Earth's most popular features, the iceberg, will be retained as a central feature of the new gallery.
