Chinese fitness sector reports growth
The first-ever Asian Fitness Education Expo (AFEEX), held in Hong Kong on March 29-30, brought together 300 delegates from Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Macau, India, Brazil and France.
The Asian Academy for Sports & Fitness Professionals (AASFP) also used the show to launch its 2007 China industry report, as well as the first ever professional indemnity/public liability coverage programme for fitness professionals in Asia, in conjunction with insurance broker MARSH.
Perhaps the most dramatic figure from the 2007 report is the rise to 256 clubs in Shanghai, up from 171 in 2006.
The number of clubs in Beijing also rose, to 390 from 353.
