Chinese heritage delegation learns from Hillingdon service
Hillingdon Council’s heritage service is today (29 June) hosting a delegation of eight Chinese archivists coming to see how local and national public archive services are run in the UK.
Hillingdon’s heritage service, based in the Central Library in Uxbridge, is custodian to hundreds of museum items as well as historical information dating back to the 12th century.
Henry Higgins, cabinet member for culture, sport and leisure, said: “Our local studies and archive staff are delighted to have been asked to show the Chinese delegation how they work.
“One of the things they will be highlighting is the lottery funded project with Brunel University and the British and Foreign School Society to catalogue and digitise the borough’s collections.”
The delegation will also visit the British Museum, The British Library and Oxford University. Details: www.hillingdon.gov.uk
