Cineworld forecasts strong 2007
Cineworld, the UK cinema chain, has seen a growth in cinema attendances, boosted by films such as Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and The Simpsons Movie.
The company forecasted a strong 2007 as a result, with its market share of box office increasing to 23.7 per cent – up from 23.5 per cent in 2006 – and admissions growing by 4.8 per cent.
Cineworld, which listed on the London Stock Exchange in May last year, is hoping for a good 2008, with film franchises including Batman, Harry Potter, Star Trek, James Bond and Indiana Jones extended to bring in customers.
The company’s full-year results for 2007 will be released in March.
