Cleethorpes Leisure Centre revamp to start in September
Work on a £2.5m upgrade of the Cleethorpes Leisure Centre, operated by Lincs Inspire, is due to begin in September, with the local council claiming the work will be the largest overhaul since the centre opened.
The work will include a new waterslide and a cannon feature, as well as an upgrade of the pool. The contract for the refurbishment works has been awarded to the Gelder Group and will be designed and managed by Balfour Beatty Workplace.
Leisure Opportunities reported in July that the centre was also going to revamp its changing facilities into a new £635,000 unisex area, partly supported by funding from Sport England. The council has said it will be carrying out all of these refurbishments at the same time to reduce inconvenience for pool users and expects work to be completed by January 2014.
