Clifftop spa for Australian wilderness
A luxury hotel and spa will open on Australia’s Kangaroo Island in March 2008.
Southern Ocean Lodge is set to be the flagship site of Baillie Lodges – a company set up four years ago by husband and wife team James and Hayley Baillie – to provide premium experiential travel in a unique Australian style.
Set on a dramatic clifftop location, the lodge will have 21 contemporary suites, with sunken lounges, and serve the freshest island and local seasonal produce.
The Spa will provide an “oasis of calm amongst the coastal drama”, says Baillie.
The Spa Retreat’s menu will offer a range of traditional and cutting-edge therapies for men and women, and include a three-hour Dreaming treatment.
There will be three treatment rooms, a relaxation room and a steamroom.
The island where the lodge and spa will be situated was first discovered by English explorer Matthew Flinders more than 200 years ago.
There are 21 national and conservation parks on Kangaroo Island – which is dubbed the Australian Galagpagos – covering a total of 30 per cent of the island.
