Climbers creep into Royal Botanic Gardens
The Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew has launched a new children’s attraction – the Climbers and Creepers interactive play zone.
Spread over 1,163sq m and created by London-based designer, At Large, the play area includes giant replicas of plants that allow children to explore the relationships between plant and animal life.
Children visiting the new area can climb into a plant to pollinate it, get eaten by a giant Venus Fly Trap or crawl through a bramble tangle.
Just over half of the attraction, around 600sq m, is in a converted glasshouse which includes a new café and toilet facilities.
The budget for the project was £1.5m and the main contractor was Scena Productions.
