The £800m NOMA regeneration scheme proposed for the centre of Manchester has moved forward after the Co-operative Group announced its preferred joint venture partner.

Real estate investment group Delancey and development specialist Landid have now entered into an exclusive lock-out period with the Co-operative Group while detailed talks continue.

NOMA is one of the UK's largest regeneration schemes and is to transform a 20-acre (8.1-hectare) site within the city's Northern Gateway. A variety of uses - including leisure – are planned.

Centred around the Co-operative Group's proposed new head office, it is expected around a quarter of the development will be open to the public.

The first phase of the scheme includes the new £100m Co-operative Group head office and is due for completion in September, with later phases to follow.

NOMA director David Pringle said: "This represents a great opportunity to bring together businesses of equal pedigree and financial standing.

"Delancey and Landid have the track record, undoubted talent and complementary expertise that will enable us to drive the NOMA project forward in the way we have always intended."
