Commercial shirt sponsor deal for FC Barcelona
FC Barcelona, which competes in Spain's La Liga competition, has announced that it has secured its first ever commercial shirt sponsorship deal.
Qatar Foundation will accompany Unicef on the club's shirts from the start of the 2011-12 season as part of the deal, which could be worth €170m (£144m). FC Barcelona will net €30m (£25m) each year until 30 June 2016, along with trophy bonuses worth up to €5m (£4.2m).
A further €15m (£12m) will be received through commercial rights during the current season. In July, the club revealed that it had been forced to seek a loan in order to ease "short-term" financial issues.
