Continuum extends lease on Edinburgh attraction
The Continuum Group has won an extension to its lease on the The Real Mary King's Close visitor attraction in Edinburgh, which will see the company operating it until at least 2028.
Continuum first opened the site - which comprises an underground network of closes and rooms beneath the city's Royal Mile, representing life as it used to be in Edinburgh's Old Town - in 2003. Its one millionth visitor was welcomed in September 2009. The original lease on the attraction was to run until 2013 but, following negotiations with the City of Edinburgh Council, this has been extended for a further 15 years. As part of the agreement and to allow expansion of The Real Mary King's Close, Continuum has also negotiated additional space.
Juliana Delaney, chief executive of the Continuum Group said: "This is wonderful news. We're extremely proud of what has already been achieved and we will strive to continue delivering an uplifting world class attraction."
