Conygar secures approval for Fishguard plans
Plans put forward by Conygar Investment Company for a mixed-use marina development in Fishguard, south west Wales, have secured outline approval from the local authority.
The project is centred around a 450-berth marina with workshops and ancillary facilities and 250 residential apartments, but will also incorporate a new visitor attraction for the town.
Conygar said the plans for the proposed new visitor centre remain under discussion, but it is hoped that a marine aquarium, a seal hospital and marine heritage exhibits could feature.
Robert Ware, the company's chief executive, expressed delight in Pembrokeshire County Council's decision to award planning permission for the Fishguard marina development.
"This now gives us the confidence to push ahead with preparing detailed proposals during the course of which we will continue to consult with all relevant parties," said Ware.
"As a consequence of discussions with Sea Trust, a local community conservation group, and other stakeholders, our detailed planning submissions will incorporate a landmark visitor centre."
