A £23million (US$28.7m, €26.6m) leisure centre in Hampshire - managed by Everyone Active - is due to open next week (Saturday 1 April).

The leisure operator and Hart District Council will officially unveil the facility with Olympic gold medalists, Rebecca Adlington OBE and Alex Danson MBE, in attendance.

The centre has a 130-station Gym, four group exercise studios, an eight-lane 25-metre swimming pool, a four-lane 25-metre training pool with movable floor, an eight-court sports hall, sauna and steam room, a climbing wall and café.

The site also has a full size FA artificial football pitch, two junior FA grass pitches and four five-a-side 3G pitches. Willmott Dixon built the leisure centre.

David Love, Everyone Active contract manager, said: “I’m really proud of the new centre and can’t wait to open the doors to the public. While the old centre has served the community fantastically for years and given us some brilliant memories, the new centre is a facility for the whole community to be proud of and enjoy for years to come.”

Councillor Tim Southern, chairman of the council, said: “I’m very pleased to be showcasing this new leisure centre to our residents. This is an impressive building and the facilities inside are the most modern and state-of-the-art available today. The project is one of the biggest investments the council has made and it reflects our commitment to health and wellbeing in the district. My thanks to all project partners, especially Everyone Active and Willmott Dixon, for delivering this centre on time and on budget. I look forward to welcoming everyone to the open day in April.”
