Council abandons Arnold leisure centre plans
Gedling Borough Council (GBC) has confirmed that it will not be pursuing plans for a new leisure centre at King George V Recreation Ground in Arnold, Nottinghamshire.
An independent panel has advised the local authority against proceeding with a planned land swap, which would have seen charitable status transferred to another park. GBC leader Roland Spencer said: "We still have ambitions to transform the top end of Arnold, but we'll now need to look at all the options to improve both our leisure facilities and the retail offer.
"We look forward to working with leisure users, shoppers, local businesses and others who share that ambition to deliver it."
