Council appoints 2014 Athletes Village developer
Glasgow City Council (GCC) has selected the City Legacy consortium as its preferred development partner for the 2014 Commonwealth Games Athletes' Village, which is to be built in Dalmarnock.
The 38.5-hectare (93.9-acre) development will be situated at the heart of the Clyde Gateway regeneration scheme and will cater for around 6,500 competitors and officials during the 2014 Games. In legacy mode, the village will provide a new residential community incorporating private housing, 300 homes available for rent and a 120-bed care home, while the removal of temporary facilities will release more land for future development.
The consortium includes architects RMJM, developers W H Malcolm and CCG, Cruden, Mactaggart & Mickel, engineers WSP Consulting and development advisors JLL, as well as Davis Langdon, Turley Associates, legal advisors Burness and Scottish and Southern Energy.
