Council approves Romford Leisure project
A planning application for a competition pool and ice rink in the borough of Havering has been passed on to the Greater London Authority and the secretary of state following council approval for the project.
It would include an eight-lane swimming pool, training pool, fitness suite, 56m by 26m ice rink and associated leisure facilities in the heart of the town centre.
If approved work on the Romford Leisure development is likely to start in winter before completion in 2015.
Councillor Michael White said: "At a time when a lot of authorities are closing similar facilities, this demonstrates the importance we place on the value of culture and leisure facilities in the borough."
