Council breathes life back into leisure centre plans
Erewash borough council has decided it will increase its investment in the troubled Sport Erewash leisure centre.
At a council executive meeting on 19 May, the council announced that it will now put to a public vote the three different proposals for the centre’s future.
All three proposals involve spending a further £2m of public money to get the site up and running, on top of the £4m already spent on the facility.
Sport Erewash was largely completed in September 2003 but has remained closed to public after being deemed a health hazard and having incomplete operational equipment.
