Council names Barking Park contractors
The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (LBBD) has revealed the contractors that are to deliver the second phase of a restoration scheme at Barking Park.
Kier Regional has been selected to carry out building work, while VINCI Construction UK will undertake the civil landscaping element. The second phase of the scheme will comprise the redevelopment of a derelict lido into a new wet play area and the construction of a new café and boating jetty.
Landscaping work will include the construction and upgrade of footpaths, the creation of wildflower meadows and improvements to the lake. LDA Design are landscaping architects on the scheme, with works due to start in early 2011. The building element is due to finish in October and the landscaping element two months later.
Funding has come from the Heritage Lottery Fund (£3.5m); the government's Playbuilder initiative; LBBD; and Barking town centre developments.
