Coventry Now launched to bid for regional casino
A group of MPs, businesses and community groups in Coventry has formed a campaign to try and bring the UK’s first regional casino to the city.
Coventry Now plans to secure backing for its bid to locate the pilot supercasino at the city’s Ricoh Arena.
Paul Fletcher, chief executive of the arena, said: “A regional casino at the Ricoh Arena would lead to major community and economic regeneration in Coventry, resulting in over 1,000 new jobs in a region that has suffered from major economic restructuring over the past 20 years.”
The stadium has chosen international casino operator Isle of Capri to manage the casino, should its bid be successful.
“Isle of Capri has a first rate track record in community engagement and regeneration and would help to boost the entertainment industry regionally,” added Fletcher.
“This is an opportunity the Midlands should support energetically.” Details: www.coventry-now.com
