Coventry play area consultation launches
Coventry City Council (CCC) has launched a new consultation to help shape the design of a refurbished play area being proposed for Gosford Green.
The facility is the last of nine due to be renovated this year as part of the Playbuilder scheme, which has been affected by a reduction in funding. CCC's original £440,120 allocation for the current financial year has been cut to £275,007, with £58,000 now allocated to help overhaul the Gosford Green play area.
Lynnette Kelly, the council's cabinet member for education, said: "It was a pity that the government chose to cut short the Playbuilder scheme in its final year. "Thankfully, councillors in Coventry know the value of outdoor play spaces for children and decided to go ahead with finishing the play areas with a reduced budget."
The consultation is available online already, although members of the public can meet with planning officers on 19, 21, 23 and 25 February at Gosford Green. Details: www.coventry.gov.uk/gosfordgreensurvey
