Hôtel Crillon Le Brave has announced it has partnered with dietitian-nutritionist and naturopath Claire Borwin to offer a diet-focused sleep retreat, among a series of holistic programming planned at the Provençal property in France.

For one day, on 25 April, guests will explore the relationship between nutrition, the nervous system and quality rest. The events will take place at the property’s Maison Tilleul, an atelier for culinary workshops and retreats.

Titled From plate to dream: nutrition and rituals for restorative sleep, Borwin will lead gentle breathing exercises, discussions on chronobiology and discover how to prepare calming dishes to fuel better sleep.

Guests will also discover herbal remedies, have wellness treatments and take part in a silent walk through the village to promote rest.

Claire Borwin told Spa Business: “Sleep is not only a matter of evening ritual: it’s a matter of physiology. Nutrition directly influences sleep quality through several mechanisms: the availability of tryptophan, nighttime glycaemic stability, the health of the gut microbiota and the production of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and melatonin.

“A dinner that is too rich in saturated fats, fast sugars or alcohol disrupts thermoregulation, digestion and deep‑sleep cycles,” added Borwin. “Conversely, a light meal, rich in quality proteins, fermentable fibres and micronutrients such as magnesium or vitamin B6, supports neurological relaxation and nighttime recovery. In reality, we do not only sleep with our brain: we also sleep with our gut.”

Further retreats

Following the sleep retreat, there are others on the calendar, such as one dedicated to creating more positive physical and emotional energy between 8-10 May. Guests will learn about the connection between the microbiome and emotions, alongside further activations.

Between 16 and 18 October, the property will host a women’s health retreat to address hormonal balance and offer anti-inflammatory nutrition and herbal medicine. Pilates, breathwork and sensory workshops will be on offer to help guests reconnect with their bodies.

Chocolate will be the focus of the final retreat at the property this year, between 11-13 December. Reconciling nutrition, emotions and pleasure, Borwin will lead mindful tastings, pastry workshops and discussions about chocolate for celebration and pleasure in a balanced lifestyle.

Hôtel Crillon Le Brave

The 34-key hotel is housed within a series of nine interconnected 17th and 18th-century buildings. The property’s Tata Harper Spa is located in the village’s former stables.

Crillon Le Brave is part of a family-run collection of five-star hotels in France called Maisons Pariente. The company was founded by Patrick Pariente and his two daughters, Leslie Kouhana and Kimberley Cohen.

The collection also includes Lou Pinet in Saint-Tropez, Le Coucou in Méribel and Le Grand Mazarin in Paris.
