Crowne Plaza debuts in El Salvador
The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is to open its first Crowne Plaza Hotel in El Salvador.
The property, a conversion of the former Hotel El Salvador, is part of a franchise agreement between IHG and Latin American Hospitality Management, the hotels division of Grupo AGRISAL. It will be IHG's 15th Crowne Plaza in Latin America and the Caribbean and its 22nd overall property in Central America. Offering 23 meeting rooms and what is claimed to be the largest ballroom in the country, the property is linked to the World Trade Centre's Torre Futura, a 19-storey office and retail development.
Amenities at the Crowne Plaza San Salvador include a Club Lounge, a business centre, two restaurants and a bar, a fully-equipped fitness centre and a semi-Olympic outdoor swimming pool. Grupo AGRISAL, which began its relationship with IHG in 2006, also owns the Holiday Inn San Salvador and the under-construction Holiday Inn Express Zona Rosa San Salvador, both in El Salvador. The company is also in the process of developing four further properties, including the Holiday Inn Escazú in San José, Costa Rica, which is scheduled to open in November this year.
